Enter Oppenheimer by HMX

We’ve purchased our first dog.  His name is Oppenheimer and he is a Yorkshire Terrier, born on the 11th of February.  He won’t be here until April 22nd and some of us are already anxious to get the newest addition to our family in the house.  This will be a new experience for me, being a cat person, but I figured it would be good to have something a bit more companionable with me as I make the transition from East Valley, AZ to Seattle, WA.

I am looking forward to the experience and I have had relatively good luck with the dogs owned by friends.  With a few exceptions, they have all been small breed dogs, but I believe Oppenheimer might be the smallest.  I know he will most likely be the most well trained as I don’t plan to let his small stature and cuteness sway me from proper pack etiquette.  That isn’t to say that I will terrorize him, but I will definitely establish humans(or at least two) as being above him in pack status.

The whole ordeal should be good and in disciplining Oppenheimer, I am hoping to bring a bit more discipline to my own daily routine.  I can honestly say that I am looking forward to the daily walks and other activities to ensure that he doesn’t become too bored and has the opportunity to take care of necessary bodily functions.  I am also looking forward to having a pet that I can once again physically play with without worry of it losing tails, limbs, or other body parts (I also have a 2 year old Leopard Gecko).

Now I just need to finish cleaning and childproofing the house and making sure I have any last minute items I might need to ensure a smooth transition for Oppenheimer.  He’ll be coming from Oklahoma by way of Dallas.  I would like to thank Douglas and Sharon Andrew for making my purchase of Oppenheimer a smooth and easy one that didn’t break the bank.  In looking locally, sellers were asking upwards of $3000 for similar dogs and that is a price that I am not willing to pay.  If you are looking for a Yorkie of your own or other small breed dogs(chihuahua and maltese), you should check out D&S  Kennel at littlepups.net or look for other breeds at Next Day Pets.
